Python Scripting for GIS

TheClipper, a preprocessing tool.

This script was created to fulfill requirements of an assignment for GIS III during Summer Term 2018
TheClipper projects all files in a given directory and clips them by a specified feature
The output is stored in a user named geodatabase

Python Webscraping

I wrote this script to collect webpages containing UFO sighting narratives from NUFORC.org. This script accesses and retrieves pages by creating unique page IDs through several count variables incorporated into a get request.

Thematic Mapping

Llamas in the USA

This map was completed at the conclusion of NEIU's GIS I class. It was the first thematic map I ever produced. It contains several glaring errors and stylistic problems, but it indicates how far I have come in with mapping and design skills

UFOs in Illinois

NUFORC reports between 2007 and 2017

This map shows UFO sightings in Illinois as points mapped against incorporated urban areas in Illinois. A clear correlation between population density and the number of sightings exists.

• Data from this map was obtained through the webscraping algorithm referenced above.

The Age of Buildings in London

I wanted to find data for the age of all of the buildings in London. Luckily I ran across Oliver O'Brien's project which let me know that data is not publicly available before 1900. This map was the final project in GIS III and required using design techniques in QGIS.
